Q award nominations 2007

Added by Rall on 13th September 2007

I know they are the awards for the, shall we say, older music fans out there, but I've always kind of liked the Q Awards. See the nominations below and my best guess as to who will win*...

Best New Act
The Enemy
Klaxons
Cherry Ghost
The Pigeon Detectives
The View

Given that they won the Mercury prize and aren't nominated for anything else here, Klaxons may win, although I'd also put money on Cherry Ghost, I think they're more Q magazine's style. On another note, where are the Noisettes? They would deserve to win.

Best Track
Manic Street Preachers - Your Love Alone Is Not Enough
Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby
Hard-Fi - Suburban Knights
Athlete - Hurricane
Muse - Knights Of Cydonia

Undoubtedly KoC is the best track in this list, I wouldn't mind at all if the Manics won. If Hard-Fi win, I'll vomit.

Best Breakthrough Artist
Kate Nash
Mika
Jack Penate
Jamie T
Calvin Harris

All these are pretty pants, but if in a life or death situation, I'd pick Jack Penate. Q will probably pick Nash in the hope she turns up.

Best Video
Lily Allen - Alfie
The White Stripes - Icky Thump
Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby
Bjork - Earth Intruders
The Killers - Bones

The Killers video should win due to the Tim Burton thing, but this could also count against it.

Best Live Act
Arcade Fire
Muse
The Killers
Arctic Monkeys
Kasabian

I think the chances of either Arcade Fire, Muse and Kasabian winning are pretty even. I'd put my money on Arcade Fire though.

Best Album
Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
Kaiser Chiefs - Yours Truly, Angry Mob
Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Manic Street Preachers - Send Away The Tigers

Amy Winehouse will win. But it should be Arcade Fire.

Best Act In The World Today
The Killers
Arctic Monkeys
Foo Fighters
Muse
U2

Obviously Muse should win, the other nominees here are a bit poor to be honest (Björk and Arcade Fire should have been in there, WTF have U2 really done in the past year?!)

Winners will be announced 8th October 2007.
