3rd Dan - Fall From Grace
Reviewed by Andreas on 28th September 2005

I must admit I was a bit sceptical towards this band when I first got their single. As far as I know, 3rd Dan means the third black belt in a line of 8, in the martial arts we all know and love as karate. I was thinking this would be some kind of silly poppy punk song. And let's face it, no one likes silly pop punk.
Luckily, I was wrong. Manchester based 3rd Dan write really good songs. From the opening "Faaaaaallll frooooom graaaaace" of the title track to the end of b-side "Shoebox" it's a delightful ride of jangly guitars and sweet melodies, not without that melancholia you so sorely need to make a song actually sound decent.
I'm seeing these people on Monday 3rd October, 2005, on the strength of one single. I encourage you to do the same, extensive tour dates can be found on their website.
'Fall From Grace' is released 24th October through Honey Records.
