Buen Chico - Right to Re-arrange
Reviewed by Dave on 6th October 2007
Right to Re-arrange is the first full length release from Leeds’ brightest young stars, Buen Chico, and upon hearing this album it is easy to see why the band have been gaining support from the likes of Radio 1 and 6Music.
Opening track and upcoming single ‘Choosing my Religion’ is a taster of what is to come from Right to Re-arrange and Buen Chico, jolly, fast paced indie-pop songs that you can’t help but fall in love with.
There is not a bad song on the album, of course some stand out more than others like the gloriously bouncy ‘Giving Your Gifts’ and the wonderful ‘Here Comes Your Boy Again’ complete with Newspeak chorus.
Weighing in at just under 40 minutes Right to Re-arrange isn’t a long album by any stretch of the definition and there are a couple of songs that could quite comfortably be a bit longer, but its not often that someone complains about an album being too short.
Impressive both live and on record, something of a rarity these days, Buen Chico have managed to rack up an impressive list of acts who they have lent their rather formidable support to, and the evidence presented on Right to Re-arrange makes it hard to believe that Buen Chico will ever be struggling on their way to becoming one of the best bands to emerge from Yorkshire.
